Who can study on the International Foundation Programme?

The Intensive International Foundation Programme (IFP) has been specifically designed for international students who want to study for an undergraduate degree in the UK, but do not have British A-level qualifications (Year 13).

You will have completed your secondary school education in your own country and are looking for a programme that will provide you with the English language skills and knowledge to begin undergraduate study at a UK university. The programmes involves a significant amount of English language teaching.

Course Overview

Our IFP covers a broad range of academic disciplines:

  • Life and biological science – suited for students with ambitions in fields like biology, pharmaceutical sciences or just the love for the human body and how improve it
  • Engineering – a broad academic area for students with ambitions to build and develop the next generation of big and small human-enhancing products
  • Mathematics and Computing – a pathway for students with a passion for large data, artificial intelligence and programming to push the world further.
  • Business & Economics – designed for future leaders in business and economics.
  • Humanities & Social Sciences – perfect for those passionate about media, Psychology, History, and related areas.
  • Law – a popular pathway for students with love for the legal profession.
  • Architecture & built environment – perfect pathway for students whose love is in lines, shapes, building, product design.  Students with passion for graphics will find a home here too.

IPF Course Summary

Course Length

  • Start September (Pre-Sessional Course + Foundation Programme): 9 months full time 25 hours per week
  • Start January ( Foundation Programme): 6 months full time 25 hours per week

Entry Requirement

Start September 2025 (Pre-Sessional Course)

  • A minimum overall grade of IELTS 4.5 or equivalent or take STAR's test.
  • PLUS evidence of a successfully completed secondary school education in an appropriate range of subjects.

Start January 2025 (Foundation Programme)

  • A minimum overall grade of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent or take STAR's test.
  • PLUS evidence of a successfully completed secondary school education in an appropriate range of subjects.
