Westerfield College is a modern institution offering the blend of rigorous sixth-form education in a college environment.
Nestled on a vast 93-acre historic site in the affluent town of Abberley within Worcestershire, the Westerfield College campus offers an unparalleled educational environment.
The site, previously home to Abberley Hall School, is steeped in history—our iconic Clock Tower, used during the Second World War to observe enemies, targeting Birmingham now stands as a symbol of resilience and learning. The clock tower is Grade II list and named on the National Heritage List for England. I was designed by James Piers St Aubyn in 1882, construction began in June 1883 and was completed in October 1884.
Our campus is more than just a place of study; it’s an experience, Westerfield College’s campus in Abberley offers a private all-contained academic environment. We offer all-boarding facilities for all students with everything they need for a successful academic experience offered on campus. The design of our school caters to all needs and seclude the students from external distractions Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, our students enjoy a serene, distraction-free environment perfect for academic and personal development. The entire estate is fenced and gated, providing a secure, tranquil setting for all students.
Sport and Recreation
Westerfield College offers world-class sports and recreational facilities that foster physical well-being and team spirit. Our Indoor Sports Hall supports a wide range of activities including squash, badminton, basketball, tennis. For water sports enthusiasts, we offer an indoor swimming pool with controlled temperature for all-year use for both recreation and competition.
The campus also boasts of an on-site lake and our own miniature Japanese garden. Outdoor sports activities abound; students can enjoy games of cricket on our cricket pitch; we have 2 standard lawn tennis courts, football pitch and basketball courts.
We have an astroturf, which offers all year-round access to multiple games uses like football, cricket and field hockey. In addition to sports, students benefit from a fully equipped gym, preparing them to stay active and healthy.
Academic Excellence
Our academic facilities are just as impressive as our recreational ones. We provide state-of-the-art dedicated laboratories and specialist teaching rooms for all our different pathways. This ensures that students learn in a near-life environment from professionals and tutors. We have 11 dedicated and curated specialist laboratories, with each dedicated to an academic pathway.
Students also get opportunity of hands-on training in their respective degree path at our specialist room as well as exposure to industry cutting-edge knowledge and information through expert seminars. Our students have access to two well-stocked libraries, which serve as intellectual hubs, fostering a rich academic culture of research, reading and collaboration.
Access and Transportation
Westerfield enjoys a location in the part of England which is conveniently accessed by everyone by road, air and trains. You can even fly a helicopter over. With easy access from major transport hubs, you can reach us from London, Birmingham and Manchester all by road and trains in differing time from 55minutes to just about 2hours. There is a direct 2-hour train from London Paddington to Worcester, which is only 24mins from campus.
For international students, we provide complimentary student pick-ups from major airports, such as Gatwick, Heathrow, Luton and Birmingham.
Food
As a full-boarding school, dining is an important part of the college and campus experience. With two dining rooms and a cafeteria, we cater to various tastes, offering both English and international cuisines. We pride ourselves on creating a home away from home, especially for our international students, with curated meals available daily. Students are able to make selection of meals, they can also purchase from the tuck shop or simply order from local shops.
Catering to parents
For visiting families, we offer private paid pick up and drop off transport services from the airports, as well as accommodation at the luxurious Elms Hotel & Spa, located just 2 minutes away from the campus. This picturesque boutique hotel provides a relaxing retreat for parents, allowing them to spend quality time with their children in a serene environment.
